AT THE ISLAND INN 2019: RICK DASKAM
Lupine Gallery and the Island Inn are delighted to announce the Island Inn’s 2019 solo show, “Drawn to the Monhegan Light,” an exhibit of oil paintings by Rick Daskam.
Rick Daskam received his formal art education at Paier College of Art in Hamden, Connecticut. After a career in illustration, Rick decided to follow his passion of painting en plein air, and his oil paintings of the landscape and farms surrounding his Connecticut home have been exhibited throughout the CT and NY area and have won numerous awards.
Rick first visited Monhegan in 2002 and fell in love with the island’s rugged beauty. Returning every year for weeks, he immerses himself in painting the landscape from sunup to sundown, producing some of his most memorable works. The exhibit will feature oil paintings that depict Rick’s unique response to the changing light and atmosphere of the island, from quiet village scenes to the power of thundering surf at the headlands. Currently, Rick serves as Co-President of the Hudson Valley Art Association. He is also a member of the Salmagundi Club in New York and the Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, Connecticut. He is represented by Lupine Gallery on Monhegan Island.
The season-long exhibit will run from May 24 to October 13. Please join us at the Island Inn for a reception for the artist Thursday afternoon, June 27 from 2 to 4 pm.
