Julie Prichard. Love her abstracts! They’re soothing and interesting with many layers adding interest and movement. Another artist inspired by a teacher – which shows just how important they are! I enjoyed reading Julie’s story… I think you will too!
Julie also gives online workshops which is pretty perfect – take a workshop from the comfort of your own space!

BIO
I was born and raised in San Diego, a city that plays an important roll in the intriguing multicultural and multifaceted larger art colony called Southern California.
While other kids were forced to sit idly as their mothers systematically searched hordes of wallpaper samples in hellishly large books my mom towed me to art stores to explore a myriad of wondrous art supplies. But it wasn’t until high school that my creative urge was truly awakened by an inspiring photography teacher. Receiving a few local awards prompted me to seek a profession that was equally creative and fulfilling. I obtained a degree from the Gemology Institute of America that not only included the grading of gemstones but gave me an appreciation of the natural beauty of gems and their artful transformation into pieces of jewelry.
My professional time as a gemologist came to an end with the birth of my daughter, an event that saw the beginning of my career as an artist.
I have one non-negotiable prerequisite and that is the ongoing examination of my own motives in the creative process yielding art that is both original and personal.
My daughter and I? Well, we now go exploring the isles of artist supplies together as I once did many years ago with my mom.
