Avril Thomas. A wonderful artist living in Southern Australia. Avril is well known for her portraits, both casual and formal. There is an art to painting a person – you have to capture their soul and not just their body. Avril does just that! Be sure to check out the COMMISSION tab on her website!
I remember when Avril first posted this painting on Facebook. Wow! This is her painting herself. How is this for a streak of brilliant creativity? She’s such a cool woman!
Avril also owns and operates Magpie Springs, a vineyard with wine, art and coffee. What more can you ask for? Avril shows her work at the vineyard gallery – The grounds look so beautiful!

Avril Thomas, born in Malaysia, has enjoyed a lifetime of drawing and until 1996 it was essentially was a private pursuit. Whilst living in Queensland Avril’s talent was recognised and was asked to teach.
On returning to South Australia she has participated in many joint and solo exhibitions.
Her main focus is portraiture in charcoal, graphite, pastel and oil, all with a tonal realist style. Avril’s works can be found in Hong Kong, U.S.A. as well as round Australia in corporate and private collections.
