Marjorie Hicks. I just love Marjorie’s work. From dogs to landscapes to still life’s she manages to nail every single subject she paints! I think Marjorie captured Gero’s very soul (above) – what a character! I love the raw linen on the canvas – perfect!
Still Life’s are another category (one of many) that Marjorie paints. I think they have such class. The palette is subtle with beautiful lighting – These paintings appear very upscale and would look just lovely in so many settings!

Read a bit about Marjorie, from her website:
Marjorie Stewart Hicks is an award winning artist. Her canvases capture the play of light and the drama of shadow and color that fall on any and all of her subjects. John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, and Henry Potthast inspire her works. Marjorie is grateful for the talented and supportive community of artists in Nashville, where she resides. Marjorie is equally at home painting commissioned portraits in studio or outdoor scenes in a style inspired by the Impressionists.
As much as she enjoys painting, Marjorie has a heart for teaching as well. Her students learn to lay a strong foundation for their paintings, focusing on values to capture the wonder of light. Students learn to simplify and fine tune their initial drawing to capture the essence and drama of their subject.
Marjorie alway seeks to build the confidence of her students by urging them to paint often, and fearlessly!
Vincent Van Gogh said “If you hear a voice within you saying ‘you are not a painter,’ then by all means paint!… and that voice will be silenced.”She is also grateful for the opportunity to support non-profit organizations each year with gifts of her paintings.
