Chris Long. Pretty amazing, right? Just look at the texture in the sky. Some of his paintings have such fabulous texture (see Oregon Coast, another fabulous example). The colors in this painting just grabbed me – The sky exudes such radiant heat and the cool horizon color is just fabulous against that brilliant sky! I featured Chris a little over a year ago – thought it was time for a re-feature!

Read a bit about Chris, from his website:
Chris Long began his art career graduating from the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts with a BFA in sculpture. He initially found years of success in the field, exhibiting nationally, instructing, and working on bronze monuments, however when opportunities turned toward 3D computer modeling, he did what any level-headed husband and father does at age 30 – he abruptly retired, moved into a motor coach, and travelled the country selling cookware. In 2011 after visiting New Orleans, Long decided it was time to enter into the art field again, but as a painter, with which he had absolutely no experience. It proved possible to learn the craft while selling work to tourists on the street, so he stayed in The Big Easy and perused painting magazines at Barnes & Noble, teaching himself a multitude of techniques by completing THOUSANDS of paintings. He currently travels coast to coast, painting and selling landscapes and figurative works online and through markets & festivals.
