Debbie Mueller. Many of you will recognize the destination in this painting (Monhegan, Maine). What great light and shadows in this painting! I especially love the reflections and the peek into the house through the windows – very nice! Adds so much interest!
Don’t miss reading Debbie’s bio. Some people spend time on their bio, where you get a sense of who they are as a person and as an artist, and Debbie’s does just that!

Read a bit about Debbie, from her website:
I have been an Obstetrician/Gynecologist for 32 years, a wife for 23 years, a mother for 22 years, a New Hampshire resident for 11 years, and beginning in February of 2016, a painter.
I am the daughter of two creators. My mother, Judy Underberg, is a lifelong artist. She has painted for many years, and for most of them just for her pleasure. The walls of my parents’ home are covered with her artwork. Recently, she has begun to enjoy some success in selling her artwork. My father is the craftsman. He first studied pottery, excelling at hand building. Next, he moved on to stained glass, and mastered the creation of beautiful objects, including the production of unique kaleidoscopes. He was honored to teach kaleidoscope making at The Campbell Craft School.
It had always been clear that when it came to creativity, I am my Father’s daughter. I embraced being a craftsperson, and left the attribute of “artist” to my Mother and others skilled with the creation of images. I studied pottery with my Father, I made objects with mosaic, and studied photography. I acknowledged that my photographs were improved by an eye for color and composition, but did not see myself as an artist.
During a visit to Sarasota, Florida, where my parents now spend their winters, on a quiet afternoon, my mother pulled out some acrylic paints, and I created a painting of a dock at dusk from a photo I had taken the day before. It was kinda fun. No, it was really fun, so I painted again the next day. Upon my return, I purchased a set of acrylic paints, some brushes and canvasses, and my journey began.
I have painted almost every day. I have watched dozens of You Tube tutorials, and taken classes with Susan Schwake, Tom Glover, Pamela duLong Williams, Kathleen Robinson, David Lussier, Chris Volpe, Todd Bonita, Stan Moeller, and Cooper Dragonette. I have read voraciously, including the work of Carlson, Schmid, and others. I have expanded to oils, and discovered the joy of sitting on a park bench while traveling and creating a study in pen and watercolor from a tiny set that fits in my purse. I have chosen a wide variety of subjects from landscapes to portraits to animals. I have experimented with the use of my palette knife, underpainting, painting plein air, and trying abstract painting. I have been continually inspired by the work of my next-door neighbor, the artist Christy Hegarty. I have exhibited my work at the Durham Public Library, Riverstones Framing and the Franklin Gallery in Rochester, Studio 51 Ceres, The Dover Children’s Museum, and am a participating artist at Ceres Gallery in Portsmouth, NH. I am learning who I am as a painter, which, as I am coming to learn, means learning more about myself.
I look forward to each new day, as painting gives my heart a chance to sing!
Catch you back here tomorrow!
